TANZANIA UTENGULE ESTATE NATURAL
Origin: Mbeya, Tanzania
Producer: Utengule Estate
Varieties: Bourbon Varieties
Process: Natural
Elevation: 1,400 MASL
Nestled at the foot of the Mbeya Range along the East African Rift Valley, Utengule Estate has been cultivating exceptional coffee for over a century. Established in 1919, the estate has evolved through generations of stewardship, combining its rich agricultural heritage with modern growing and processing practices.
Spanning nearly 300 hectares, Utengule’s coffee grows in mineral-rich volcanic soils at an elevation of 1,400 meters. Warm summers, cool winters, and seasonal rainfall create ideal conditions for cultivating Bourbon varieties, celebrated for their sweetness, balance, and complexity.
For this natural-processed coffee, ripe cherries are carefully handpicked and slowly sun-dried whole on raised beds. Throughout the drying process, the cherries are regularly turned to ensure consistency, allowing the fruit’s natural sugars to contribute sweetness, depth, and complexity to the finished coffee.
The result is a beautifully balanced Tanzanian coffee with a full body, rich sweetness, and vibrant fruit-forward character—a wonderful expression of the land, tradition, and craftsmanship behind Utengule Estate.
